The Author
Ceridwen S. Owen was born in 1959 and lives in Malmesbury Wiltshire, with her husband Gareth. They have been married for 30 years. Their son is twenty five, primarily a blacksmith but also gainfully self-employed in many things. Their twenty two year old daughter is married and is doing a degree in animal science.
Ceridwen loves the adventure and challenge of climbing mountains, the tranquillity of her little bit of Eden in the garden she has created, and produce from the allotment, because home grown tastes best and doesn’t have any plastic packaging.
Author Background
Graduating in zoology, Ceridwen went on to do a PhD on Preslaughter Handling of Sheep. Over the years she has played many roles here are a few: making plastic bags, Assistant Scientific Officer, researcher for BBC Natural History Unit, Bereavement Services Officer, Teaching Assistant in primary school - the best job ever - where she got to help kids who struggled at school, just like she did, and also to create, stock and run a library especially for the children.
Writing Experience
From the first school essay, Ceridwen loved inventing and writing stories as a means of escape from a world she found hard to understand. Essays to be handed in on Monday morning were started late on Sunday and took all night. Four neatly written pages were not her forte; fourteen or more were her style with ever deteriorating handwriting, non existent punctuation, hopeless spelling and no way of knowing where the story would lead until it was finished.
The odd thesis and scientific paper has thankfully, brought a little more discipline to her writing. Later, a writing course birthed a collection of diverse short stories that are waiting in the wings to be published.
Currently she is working on an illustrated story about the shepherds who saw the baby, and researching the wisemen’s story in preparation for a second children’s book.
Testimony
In her late twenties, a series of tragedies made her life feel unbearable. Silently she cried out in despair and Jesus Christ answered her with overwhelming clarity. Then for the first time in her life, with guidance from the Holy Spirit, the world became easier to live in. A transformation began then and still continues today as she prays, studies the Bible and is constantly inspired by God.
